Record of Inspection (RoI)

An RoI is a formal document detailing an inspection of high-risk prescribed electrical work (PEW) as required by Regulation 72 of the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010. Regulation 72 also specifies the information required on the RoI. The RoI provides a legally recognisable written record of what high-risk PEW was inspected and by whom. It may also be used for the purpose of connection, and utilised for other purposes, including auditing and investigations. High-risk prescribed electrical work has to be inspected by a person authorised to inspect such work. However, that person may not inspect such work if they have personally carried out the work, supervised someone else carrying out the work or issued a CoC for the work. The person doing the inspection must produce a written record of the inspection. This record must identify what was inspected, and be signed and dated by the person doing the inspection.

The RoI must:
A.identify the work that was inspected; and

B. be signed and dated by the person carrying out the inspection;

C. and include or have on it the authentication mark, as specified in regulation 111B;

D. and if the inspection was carried out in accordance with a standard, identify the standard and state that the inspection was carried out in accordance with that standard;

E. and if the inspection was carried out in accordance with a certified design,
identify the certified design and state that the inspection was carried out in accordance with that certified design; and

F. state whether the work that has been inspected has been done in accordance with these regulations;

G. and state whether the installation or part installation on which the work has been done is, and will be (when powered), electrically safe

In addition:
The person who carries out the inspection must attach the certificate of compliance or a copy of the certificate of compliance, to the record of inspection. If the inspection relates to work covered by more than 1 certificate of compliance, the record of inspection must identify the certificates of compliance to which it relates. The person doing the inspection is also responsible for entering specific details relating to the work on the Electricity and Gas High-risk Database which will be hosted on the WorkSafe website.
